The April to June edition of Twiga, the inflight magazine we produce for Air Tanzania, is now available to view online. The sad news of the death of Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli came as we were putting the finishing touches to the magazine together and we have included a tribute to his achievements, which have brought great changes to the country. Fittingly, given that Dr Magufuli was replaced by Samia Suluhu Hassan, the country’s first woman president, much of the rest of the magazine is given over to a special collection of features about inspirational women. Among them you’ll find Miranda Naiman, the founder of Empower, who is working to ensure the country’s huge youth population is equipped with marketable skills; the all-women team behind game-changing big screen film Binti and the young musicians of Bahati Band, who play and write their own songs and are shaking up the Dar live music scene.
